Hijacking the CNN Republican debate to promote House of Cards

On December 15, 2015, Netflix hijacked the Republican Candidate Presidential Debate on CNN in the US to build anticipation for the upcoming fourth season of “House of Cards,” the hit political drama starring Kevin Spacey. Prior to the broadcast of the debate, Netflix teased fans on Twitter and Snapchat, before airing an ad during the first hour of the program which led viewers to the bespoke FU2016 web portal. The parody advertisement came in the form of a fictional campaign
